Applied Kinesiology
I practice applied kinesiology in Bedford, but what is it and how could it help you? Read on to find out!
What is Applied Kinesiology?
Applied Kinesiology is based on the work of Dr George Goodheart, whose philosophy was that health is a balance between structural, biochemical and emotional factors, also referred to as the ‘Triad of Health’. It uses muscle testing as a diagnostic tool to help to evaluate imbalances in these three areas.
The triad is represented by an equilateral triangle with structural health as its base, and the upright sides representing chemical and mental health. Applied kinesiology uses the – triad of health – chemical, mental and structural factors – to describe the proper balance of the major health categories. The triad of health is interactive and all sides must be evaluated for the underlying cause of a problem. A health problem on one side of the triad can affect the other sides. For example, a chemical imbalance may cause mental symptoms, a structural issue can lead to chemical imbalance. Applied Kinesiology enables the practitioner to evaluate the triad’s balance and direct therapy toward the imbalanced side or sides.
In general, the Applied Kinesiologist finds a muscle that tests weak and then attempts to determine why that muscle is not functioning properly. In some cases the practitioner may test for environmental or food sensitivities factors by using a previously strong muscle to find what weakens it, bit like a switch. The practitioner will then evaluate and apply the therapy that will best eliminate the muscle weakness and restore health.

First, a medical history is taken reviewing the history of your health situation. A physical examination including orthopedic and neurologic tests may be necessary. If required laboratory tests, xrays or MRI’s may be needed to help establish the cause of the problem.
